Hello, All!

This December we see a few changes happening at Wine Kitz Nelson.

As many of you already know, your much adored John Kortram has decided to retire. He and his wife Ineke are off to ski, hike, fish, and keep themselves very busy with their many projects. A heartfelt Thank You to all who have thought to stop by or write to wish them well, it was so appreciated. They will be staying in the area, so please don’t hesitate to say hello and stop to chat when you pass them on the street. They will be missing all of their wonderful customers!

A quick few words about myself, as the new owner of Wine Kitz Nelson.

As a long time resident of the area, I have felt very fortunate to be able to live, work and raise a child in such an incredible place. Having always wanted to own my own business in Nelson, imagine my delight to find Wine Kitz available to buy…Nothing short of a dream come true for this girl!

John and Ineke have been working hard to get me trained up to the standards they have brought to the business. Rest assured the level of customer service you have seen from them will continue and the quality of our products will remain as high as ever.

I have already started some wines for myself, in preparation for having a full and varied wine cellar to enjoy and share with my friends and family!  (This, admittedly, was one of the many factors that determined this was indeed the right business for me…)

I very much look forward to meeting all of you as you come in to bottle the wine John started for you, or choose out your next favourite Wine!

Cheers!

Kerry Greenley

Dear All,

Ineke and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your loyal patronage in the past five and a half years.

It has been great pleasure serving you and having fun moments and conversations. We treasure that and will miss these moments. We are going to explore what 'being retired' really means and have all reasons to stay living in this beautiful part of the world, enjoying all the amenities  it has to offer. We stay living in Nelson where we bought a beautiful spot two years ago. I intend to continue contributing to the community and serve on the board of Nelson and district Credit Union for terms to come as long as I get reelected. Ineke is exploring a new endeavor, which we will certainly chat about when we meet on Baker, in SOF, Oso or at the ski hill.

We have been working with Kerry over the past few weeks and will continue to do so for a couple more weeks in December to make sure we transfer all our knowledge to her. This goes extremely well, and we are very confident that we have found the best new owner in town to run Wine Kitz.

For now, we wish you all a wonderful time and want to thank you again for your support over the years.

See ya on Baker!

Ciao John and Ineke

New 'Kits' in Town: Sauvignon Blanc New Zealand

We have introduced a new series of well priced quality kits: Atmosphere. Two months ago we  had the white crisp and aromatic Müller-Thurgau in the spotlight and since we can’t keep them in stock, they fly off the shelves. There are 12 reds, filled with country specific single varietal grape juices and blends and 7 white juices. Meanwhile we have added more Atmosphere to this line up as you will see when you visit the store. From now on you will see Atmosphere more and more. Highly recommended.

Today let’s look into the Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.

Atmosphere: Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand.
You do not always have to have an ancient history to be respected for your wines. Marlborough’s first Sauvignon Blanc vines were planted in 1973 resulting in the first serious commercial wine production about six years later. Within two decades New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc attained celebrity status. Exceptional!

Everything is just exactly right; the climate, the terroir and winemakers that took their profession seriously. The different climate from the northerly regions does result in different style than the wines produced in the southerly regions that have a longer and cooler growing season. This results in vibrant fruity flavors. Crispy wines with flavors of passion fruit, other tropical fruit and gooseberries. Guess what! This is just what you can expect from our Atmosphere.

Combines very well with seafood. Don’t be afraid to add citrus and garlic. Try with a tangy tomato vinegar salad and you will be surprised. The wine can handle it. Or, why not, simply a glass on your deck. What’s wrong with that.
